Our album is out! It’s at all the finest digital music emporiums such as iTunes, Amazon mp3, and Google Play, and streaming services such as Spotify, Rdio, and Rhapsody. If you ask us the best place to buy it, and a pretty good way to listen for free as well, is at Bandcamp, where you can download it in the high-quality format of your choice for only seven bucks. The cover art by Wiliam Chua is below. Enjoy and tell us what you think!
Hey everybody, the moment has nearly arrived. Our debut LP “Entanglement” will be released January 16th, 2014. And we will be celebrating with a release show at Cake Shop:
Joining us on the lineup are the excellent 2Frail, Orca Age, and Sound And Fiore (Jill from The Lovely solo electric set). Here’s the facebook event: https://www.facebook.com/events/251935198299358/
Hope to see you there. We will have CDs and download codes.
Here’s the poster for our show at Glasslands this Saturday. We go on at 8pm sharp. We’re honored to be playing at one of Gothamist’s 8 Best Music Venues in NYC with Stereo Off and The Lovely. This will be our second to last show before we go away for a while and come back as dad rock & mom pop.
Hey everybody. We had a fun summer playing shows at Cake Shop, Alphabet Lounge, Cameo Gallery, Bar Matchless, and The Rock Shop with other great bands and friends. And now there’s so much going on, it almost feels ridiculous to confine it to one blog post. From July through October we recorded our debut LP at The Seaside Lounge with engineer Jon Altschuler, who has worked extensively with They Might Be Giants, as well as Laurie Anderson and David Byrne. We put a tremendous amount of effort into making sure this album represents our true vision and we can’t wait for you to hear it in its entirety.
But for now we’re excited to announce the release of the first single, Changeling. It’s a free download at Bandcamp in the high-quality format of your choice, and here’s the lyric video:
If all this weren’t enough, the frontpeople (frontpair?) of Guess & Check, Jay and Maya, are expecting a baby due next April! Since that will necessitate a temporary break from live performances, we are doing a series of shows culminating in our album release on January 16th. Here they are:
December 14th: Grand Victory with Phone Home, 2Frail, and What Model Citizens
December 21st: Glasslands Gallery with Stereo Off and The Lovely
January 16th, 2014: album release at Cake Shop with TBA
Hope to see you at one (or more) of these, and look forward to more news on the album release. Thanks for listening!

We have some big news to announce. Guess & Check have engaged Tinderbox Music to promote our debut EP on college radio! If you have a local college or non-commercial station, listen for us or put in a request. See you out there in radioland!
Thanks so much to everyone who came out to see us at The Bitter End on February 16th. We had our biggest turnout ever and a fantastic time. Some photos of the evening are up on our Photos page, generously taken by Ho Ying Fan. We have some new songs that we’re itching to play for you as soon they’re ready, so stay tuned.
A few weeks ago our good friend Ibrahim came by and took some photos of us. Check them out over on the Photos page.
Hey everyone, this is Guess & Check’s new official site! At this point it’s nothing too exciting, mostly links to all our other web presences, but it’s a place we can call our own.
